Beskrivelse

Why I'm Building a Software Development and Piano Training Academy in Nigeria Who I Am My name is Benjamin Olumuyiwa Fadina, and I'm a software developer and musician based in Nigeria. I graduated with a Computer Science degree from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi in 2006, and since then, I've had the privilege of working with organizations like REDSTAR PLC, VERRAKI, Africa Prudential, and many others across my nearly two-decade career. Today, I serve as a Technical Evangelist for Radzen Blazor, where I create free educational content to help developers worldwide master modern web development technologies. I'm a Microsoft Certified Professional specializing in C#, ASP.NET Core, SQL Server, and Blazor. But beyond my professional credentials, I'm someone who believes deeply in the power of education to transform lives. I'm also a passionate musician and piano instructor. Music has been an integral part of my life, and I've discovered that the discipline, creativity, and problem-solving skills required in both software development and music are remarkably similar. What I'm Raising Funds For I'm seeking funding to establish a dual-purpose academy in Nigeria that will offer: 1. Software Development Training - Teaching young Nigerians professional-grade skills in modern technologies including C#, Blazor, SQL Server, and full-stack web development 2. Piano Training Programs - Providing music education with focus on piano performance, music theory, and composition This won't be just another training center. It will be a place where technology meets creativity, where analytical thinking meets artistic expression. Why This Matters to Me For years, I've been creating free tutorials on YouTube, LinkedIn, dev.to, Medium, and the Radzen Forum. I've watched thousands of students across Africa and beyond learn from my content. The messages I receive from students who've landed their first developer jobs or who've finally understood a complex concept that was blocking their progress - these messages fuel my passion. But I've also seen the limitations of purely online education, especially in Nigeria where: • Reliable internet access is still a challenge for many • Hands-on mentorship is scarce • Quality equipment and learning environments are hard to find • Many talented young people lack the resources to access premium courses or certifications I've witnessed firsthand how lives can be transformed when someone gains marketable technical skills. I've also seen how music education builds confidence, discipline, and cognitive abilities that enhance performance in every area of life. Nigeria is home to some of the most talented and hardworking young people I've ever met. What they often lack isn't ability - it's opportunity and access. This academy will bridge that gap. How the Funds Will Be Used Your contributions will be allocated transparently across these critical areas: Facility Setup (40%) • Leasing and renovating a suitable space with separate wings for technology and music training • Creating dedicated computer labs with workstations for hands-on coding • Setting up soundproofed music practice rooms • Installing reliable power backup systems (essential in Nigeria) • Furnishing classrooms and common areas Equipment & Technology (30%) • Purchasing computers and development tools for the software lab • Acquiring digital pianos, keyboards, and acoustic instruments • Setting up a robust local network and internet infrastructure • Procuring software licenses for development tools and music production software • Building a reference library of technical books and music resources Curriculum Development (15%) • Developing comprehensive, industry-relevant course materials • Creating structured learning paths from beginner to professional level • Recording video content for hybrid learning approaches • Obtaining certifications and partnerships with technology companies • Designing music curriculum that spans classical, contemporary, and jazz styles Operational Launch Fund (15%) • Covering initial 6 months of operational expenses • Hiring additional qualified instructors • Marketing and student recruitment • Providing scholarships for underprivileged students who show exceptional promise • Emergency fund for unexpected needs My Track Record I understand that trust is earned. Here's what you can verify about my work: • Free Educational Content: Search for "Benjamin Fadina" on YouTube, LinkedIn, or dev.to to see the hundreds of free tutorials I've created • Professional Network: My LinkedIn profile shows my professional history and recommendations from colleagues • Radzen Community Contributions: Check the Radzen Blazor forum for my active engagement helping developers solve problems • Company Registration: Muyik Software and Music Company is my registered business entity • Consistent Online Presence: I've maintained active educational channels for years, demonstrating long-term commitment The Vision Beyond the Academy This academy is just the beginning. My vision includes: • Creating pathways for graduates to access remote work opportunities with international companies • Building a community of practice where students become mentors to the next generation • Partnering with Nigerian businesses to provide internships and job placements • Hosting regular tech meetups and music performances to build community • Eventually expanding to multiple locations across Nigeria A Personal Commitment I'm not just asking for your financial support - I'm making a personal commitment. I will: • Continue providing free online content alongside the academy • Ensure that a portion of academy seats are reserved for scholarship students • Maintain full transparency with regular updates on fund usage and progress • Dedicate my time and expertise to personally teaching and mentoring students • Build something sustainable that will outlast my direct involvement Join Me in Transforming Lives Every developer who finds meaningful work, every musician who discovers their voice, every young person who realizes their potential - they represent hope not just for themselves but for their families and communities. Nigeria has produced world-class software engineers working at Google, Microsoft, and leading tech companies globally. We've produced internationally acclaimed musicians and artists. The talent is here. The hunger to learn is here. What's needed is infrastructure, mentorship, and opportunity. Your contribution, regardless of size, is an investment in human potential. It's a vote of confidence in the next generation of Nigerian technologists and artists. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for considering supporting this vision.
